What la vida has taught me - Sandra Cisneros

“We do this because the world we live in is a house on fire and the people we love are burning.” Sandra Cisneros

Sandra Cisneros is a poet, short story writer, novelist, essayist, performer, and artist whose work explores the lives of the working-class. She is a dual citizen of the United States and Mexico and earns her living by her pen.

“I try to be honest about what I see and to speak rather than be silent, especially if it means I can save lives, or serve humanity.”

“I wanted to write something in a voice that was unique to who I was. And I wanted something that was accessible to the person who works at Dunkin Donuts or who drives a bus, someone who comes home with their feet hurting like my father, someone who’s busy and has too many children, like my mother.”

A film by Ann Kathrin Doerig with Benedikt Schnermann and music by Tom Hessler.
